Take a minute to care for yourself. ( see exersise half way down the page)
“In many shamanic societies, if you came to a medicine person complaining of being disheartened, dispirited or depressed, they would ask one of four questions:
When did you stop dancing?
When did you stop singing?
When did you stop being enchanted by stories?
When did you stop finding comfort in the sweet territory of silence?”
Quote by Gabrielle Roth.
The thing I get from this quote by Gabrielle Roth and the thing that I passionately believe in is the importance of living our creative lives, expressing ourselves and connecting with the unspoken depths inside ourselves.
When we do so we are looking after our wellbeing, we are nurturing our innate creative being.
When we don't we are starving a part of ourselves that needs to be expressed, we are disconnecting from our wild, innate, creative nature.
When we experience trauma, when we struggle to communicate, when we fall off the edge of life and either become depressed (we have a fixation with the past) or suffer with de-habilitating anxiety (a fixation with the future) we have lost connection somewhere along the line and life can become a very difficult game of survival.
I can relate to anyone that has been or is in this position, if you are reading this then I am sending you love and light and if you have lost all hope I will carry that hope for you as I believe if you can do something today that connects you back to yourself, to your creative life, you have made a very important first step!
When we connect back to the moment we can start living and embodying our lives fully again.
If you are up for the challenge here is a quick, simple exercise to help connect back with your creative self:
Take a minute to start healing yourself.
You are the start of great things, you are the master of your own beautiful destiny, don't waste anymore time, embrace the power of the breathe, light, connecting to your body and expressing yourself.
When your ready to start. Make yourself comfortable, have a piece of paper and a selection of colour pens, pencils, paints (whatever you choose) at the ready.
Close your eyes.
Visualise light coming in with your breath, let this light fill up your whole body with each breath.
Let go of anything that isn't serving you ( fear, negative thoughts, doubt)
keep doing this for 5-10 breaths.
Get whatever medium you want to work in and choose a colour to express the light you just let into your body,
draw a simple outline of a body, to represent yourself.
Now colour it in, how ever you like, how you visualised it when you were breathing if you like.
Once your done, try not to judge it, let go of those normal thoughts that may try and put you down.
You are awesome for giving it a go, for creating something and expressing yourself!
So well done you!!!
This going to be the first visual aid to represent a step forward in transforming and connecting back with your creative life.
you can do this exercise as much as you like, the colour that you see may change, but whatever comes up it is important to let go of fear and judgement as this is what stunts creative growth.
Never forget how awesome you are.
Love and Light,
